That storm that hit NYC and New Jersey yesterday was crazy, torrential rain, hail it seemed like everything poured down in the city yesterday. I knew the storm was severe but I had no idea how serious it really was until I read the NY Daily News who reported that 5 people were injured by the storm...four of them were hit by lightning:

Five people were injured — four by lightning, one by a falling tree — in a summer storm that brought torrential rain, quarter-sizes hailstones and ground-shaking thunder to the city.

The freakish weather snapped a three-day heat wave that topped out with 100-degree temperatures, spawned flash flooding and snarled traffic and transit at rush hour.

Former Giants linebacker Dhani Jones snapped a photo at around 1:30 p.m. from a Delta jet at 10,000 feet near LaGuardia Airport that showed a massive cloud seemingly swallowing the metropolis. (pic shown aboe)

One bolt apparently hit a woman on 69th Road and 150th St. in Kew Gardens Hills, Queens.

Sources said it went in through the 21-year-old’s arm and exited through her face. She was conscious when paramedics got to her, but her condition was unknown.

Another bolt hit a man, 36, while he walked through Astor Court at the Bronx Zoo around 1 p.m., police said. A mother and son, ages 34 and 8, were also thrown to the ground by the power of that strike, cops said. All three were taken to Jacobi Medical Center in stable condition.

A tree fell on a woman’s car at the westbound Belt Parkway and Francis Lewis Blvd. in Laurelton, Queens, and firefighters had to pull her out. She was taken to Jamaica Hospital with minor injuries.

If there's one thing none of us can mess with it's definitely mother nature.
