October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and there are healthy ways to support the cause while attacking your fitness goals around NYC.

And don’t forget your cute, fashionable pink running gear from companies like Under Armour that has their “Power of Pink” collection with a portion of the proceeds going to breast cancer centers and charities.
While you are sporting your breast cancer gear, and running or walking for the cause, you have to make sure that you know the facts.
According to the American Cancer Society:
-Clinical breast exam (CBE) about every 3 years for women in their 20s and 30s and every year for women 40 and over.
-Women should know how their breasts normally look and feel and report any breast change promptly to their health care provider. Breast self-exam (BSE) is an option for women starting in their 20s.
-Yearly mammograms are recommended starting at age 40 and continuing for as long as a woman is in good health.
