All Things HOT

Have you ever been surfing through random websites and come across a picture of yourself in an ad that you didn’t know you did, or worse, didn’t get paid for. Well, if not, your day just may be coming.  As of January 16th 2013 Instagram (recently adopted by Facebook) will implement a new policy allowing the site to sell your photos to anyone they want. Yes, Instagram will have the right to sell its user’s pictures to outside companies and organizations for profit, yet offer no payment or notification to the user.

The controversial change to the popular picture-sharing site comes just a few months after Facebook’s take over. Unless the user deletes their account before the January date, they cannot opt out of the new policy. Even if a user deletes an account after the January 16, Facebook will still hold licenses on the photos allowing the company the right to sell the pictures at any time. Some say the dramatic alteration to the agreed Terms of Use Policy may be a recipe for disaster.  Let us know what you think!
