Up-and-coming Chicago rapper Mick Jenkins announced yesterday via XXL his signing to the Cinematic Music Group , along with a new song and a release date for his highly anticipated debut album, “The Water[s]”. Jenkins will join labelmates Big K.R.I.T. and Joey Bada$$ & Pro Era with Jonny Shipes at CMG.

"Jonny Shipes is the only person that approached me offering to work for free. After growing and working together, as well as exploring other options, I'm happy to make the decision to partner with Cinematic Music Group. I'm making movies anyway," Jenkins said in an interview with XXL.

Mick Jenkins released a soulful new track “Lazarus” produced by Chuck Strangers, with no hook and a classic sound. “The Water[s]”, Jenkins debut album, is set to release August 12th via Cinematic. Keep an eye out for this young star on the rise and check out the new track below:
