Brooklyn Nets Fire Head Coach After 14-14 Record [PHOTO]
After a 3-10 record in December, the Brooklyn Nets fired head coach Avery Johnson this afternoon after winning eastern coach of the month Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for October and November.
The Nets offense has struggled lately with Deron Williams even coming out to say he enjoyed Utah’s and former coach Jerry Sloan’s offense better.
“*I’m a system player. I love Coach Sloan’s system. I loved the offense there.”*
In two and a half seasons as head coach Johnson has a 60-116 record as coach of the team.
Owner Mikhail Prokhorov released a statement following the firing,
“*The Nets ownership would like to express thanks to Avery for his efforts and to wish him every success in the future,”
* said Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov in a statement confirming Johnson’s dismissal.
His assistant P.J. Carlesimo will be interim head coach until the team finds a new permanent for the team.
The Nets next game will be against the Charlotte Bobcats next at Brooklyn on Friday.
