Jay Z Signs New Publishing Deal With Warner [Photo]

Jay-Z continues to prove himself to be one of the smartest artists of all time, by signing a new publishing deal for himself and his label Roc Nation with Warner/Chappell which is a division of Warner Music Group.

Hov has been signed to EMI Music Publishing for most of his career, but it was bought out by Sony/ATV last year.

This deal allowed Warner to agree to another deal that will allow Jay to represent songwriters on Roc Nation as well. Forbes magazine explains the importance of this deal in their newest article.

"By the end of 2014, he’ll be in full control of both his master recordings and publishing rights—meaning that every time someone buys one of his albums, streams one of his hits online or licenses his song for a movie, he’ll get a considerably larger piece of the pie. Not bad for someone who already made $38 million last year."

There are also rumors that Beyonce will be following her husband to Warner once her contract is over.
