DL Hughley
A true king of comedy, D.L. Hughley has earned the reputation. D.L was mostly recently seen hosting his own talk show on CNN “D.L. Hughley Breaks the News,” and is now a contributor to the network.
A standup comedian to the core, D.L. starred in his own one-hour special for HBO entitled “Unapologetic.” The special, D.L.’s fourth for the network (the others were in 1992, 1994 and 1999), is currently available on DVD. Taped before a live audience at the historic Lincoln Theater in Washington, D.C., the special features D.L.’s timely take on current events. In it’s review, the Hollywood Reporter says “ the likable Hughley is the real deal, a guy who comes with his A-material and nails every line with smarts and savvy….connecting with the audience from the first minute through the last.” In conjunction with the release of the DVD, Hughley embarked on a national comedy tour, the Unapologetic Tour.
In 2007, D.L. starred on the NBC series “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” and also HBO’s “Def Comedy Jam” , as well as the BET series “S.O.B: Socially Offensive Behavior” last summer, which enjoyed spectacular ratings in its debut run.
As the star and producer of his namesake television show that ran on ABC and UPN “The Hughleys,” D.L. is also well known as one of the standout comedians on the hit comedy docu-film The Original Kings of Comedy A veteran of numerous talk show appearances D.L. switched the tables in 2005, hosting his own talk show on Comedy Central “Weekends at the DL.”
In addition, D.L. has headlined several comedy specials including “D.L. Hughley: Going Home,” “D.L. Hughley Live”, “Shocked & Appalled” and the recent “Unapologetic”.

Kevin Hart
Kevin Hart has burst onto the scene as one of the most versatile comedy actors in film and television. Earlier this year, he was seen on the big screen in the hit Screen Gems drama Not Easily Broken opposite Morris Chestnut and Taraji P. Henson. Hart recently premiered his new one-hour comedy special “I’m a Grown Little Man” on Comedy Central. The special debuted as one of the highest rated specials for the network. He will next be seen starring in Comedy Central’s new series “Krod Mandoon and The Flaming Sword of Fire” set to premiere in April 2009. Hart stars as Zezelryck, the young warlock whose greatest magical gift is spinning BS, in this fantasy comedy series about a reluctant hero and his band of remarkably ineffectual freedom fighters.
Last year, Hart was seen on the big screen in the FOX comedy Meet Dave opposite Eddie Murphy and in Dimension Film’s action comedy spoof Superhero Movie opposite Tracey Morgan, Regina Hall. He also co-starred alongside Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson in Fool’s Gold. His biggest break came when he landed the lead in MGM’s Soul Plane opposite Tom Arnold, Method Man and Snoop Dog. Hart’s recent film credits include Drillbit Taylor, Epic Movie, The Last Stand, Scary Movie 4, In the Mix and The 40 Year Old Virgin. |
Charlie Murphy
Charlie Murphy’s rapid evolution from "Chappelle's Show" cast member to top-billed international comedian, playing to sold-out audiences around the globe, has been remarkable. He has spent the past 8 years performing his critically acclaimed stand-up show and solidifying his position in Hollywood as a true acting talent, in his own right.
At the start of his stand up career, he embarked on the national “I’m Rich Bitch” comedy tour, featuring fellow “Chappelle’s Show” cast members Bill Burr and Donnell Rawlings. “Charlie Murphy and Friends” and a co-headlining tour with Mike Epps followed. More recently, Murphy co-headlined on the 20-city “Maxim/Bud Light Real Men of Comedy Tour” with Joe Rogan and John Heffron. Charlie has worked with top Hollywood talent such as Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Eddie Murphy, Danny Aiello, Terrance Howard, Gabrielle Union, Queen Latifah, Vanessa Williams, Rip Torn, Peter Falk, Redd Fox, Angela Bassett, Wesley Snipes, Jamie Foxx, Samuel Jackson and Sammy Davis, Jr. Upcoming films include: Family Wedding with Forest Whitaker, America Ferrara and Carlos Mencia, The Cookout 2 with Faizon Love and Lottery Ticket with Bow Wow and Ice Cube.
He is currently starring in a multi-media advertising campaign for Nike’s Jordan Brand, featuring Charlie as long time Jordan nemesis/inspiration Leroy Smith. His autobiographical book entitled The Making of a Stand Up Guy, was published by Simon and Schuster, and hit stores in December 2009. His live stand-up special and DVD, Charlie Murphy: I Will Not Apologize is being released in stores by Image Entertainment and will air on Comedy Central February 2010.

Roz G
Orange, New Jersey born & raised Roslane Gholston, known to some as Big Roz or Lady Roz G, is one of the funniest up & coming female comedians in the country. As soon as she blazes the stage with her comedic skills, thunderous voice, and her voluptuous persona, promoters are waiting to book her and the audience is eagerly waiting to shake her hand. In a male dominated career, Roz G is as strong on stage as the average male comedian. The statement ..."I'm not going behind her" is frequently heard from other comedians.
Roz G is no stranger to large audience since she has 10 years experience as a motivational speaker on 12-Step programs and Women's Issues all over the country. Roz G has developed her own following by hosting and performing at a variety clubs, colleges and special events in the tri-state area and abroad. In addition, she sings, raps, and dances; and most of all she is naturally FUNNY. This multi-talented comedian is sizzling and definitely a star in the making. Roz G has accomplished the goals that other comedians take years to do, as you will see in her attached resume. Funny females are hard to find but she is definitely moving and shaking to the level. Catch Roz G this fall on the new season of BET Comic View 2005 in New Orleans also Comedy Central's Laffapalooza Comedy Festival. |
Capone
After a nine month bid in jail, Bronx bred Derrick ‘Capone’ Lee knew hustling was not his calling. With a second chance, Capone left the street life and became a home attendant for the mentally challenged. Although his salary was a far cry from his previous income, he valued his freedom enough to stay on a legitimate path and supplemented his wages by moonlighting as a barber on the weekends. It was at his second job, that he began to hone his comedic skills by engaging in intense snap sessions with co-workers. It wasn’t until 1992, when a promoter friend of Capone’s challenged him to take his innate talent off the streets and to the stage that his comedy career was launched. “My first show was at Columbia University,” says the eight year comedic veteran of his meager beginnings and who credits his late mother for his comedic sense. “I won the amateur contest and I was invited to perform with the heavy hitters.” Performing with professionals such as Tracey Morgan (Saturday Night Live), Talent (Wyclef Jean’s 1998 The Carnival), Michael Epps (Next Friday) opened up many doors for the boisterous budding comedian. He immediately ditched his day job after he’d saved his earnings to open his first barber shop six years ago. “It was always one of my dreams to have my own barber shop and work for myself.”
Today, the notorious funnyman is also the C.E.O. of D.D.L. Enterprises (his initials) and owns three businesses in the Bronx -a barber and beauty shop and a computer store. In addition to his acute business savvy, Capone’s ability to adapt to any audience has made him a mainstay in the comedy arena. He’s performed at a slew of comedy clubs including New York’s Caroline’s Comedy Club, Uptown Comedy Club, Boston Comedy Club and tons of universities. It is this same universal comedic flair that helped Capone nab his gig as the host of Harlem’s legendary Amateur Night at the Apollo Theatre. “My jokes are personal -relationships, children, society, work, ethnicity,” admits Capone who also hosts the majority of the Apollo’s scheduled concerts. “I transform it into a comedic vision.” Luckily for the humorous, the gangster of comedy and his silly comrades had an even bigger vision -to unite The Big Apple’s top five comedians (Capone, Talent, Gerald Kelly, Drew Frasier and Rob Stapleton) for a N.Y. Kings of Comedy tour. “We decided to put this show together about a year ago, but it was difficult with everyone’s conflicting schedules. But when we finally came together I went straight to the Apollo and made it happen.” The Royal Fam’ is such a hot commodity that the show sold out in less than a week and a second show had to be added. “We’ve gotten an overwhelming response and I’m hoping the show will travel soon.”
It’s obvious that the gangster of comedy has traveled his path and walked toward the light almost stealthily -when the world of comedy lease anticipated his arrival. But he’s here now, sitting stoically upon his comedic throne waiting to tickle the next funny bone. |
