In September Notre Dame Linebacker and 2012 Heisman Trophy finalist; Manti Te’o contacted the media that his girlfriend Lennay Kekua died of cancer shortly after his grandmother passed away. Te’o reached out to Notre Dame Officials after receiving a phone call from “Lennays” cell phone December 26th; during an ESPN award show. He notified them that the whole relationship in addition to the death of Lennay was a hoax. An article posted on DeadSpin.com proposes that Te’o was involved in the hoax in order to receive a spotlight in the media due of the emotional nature of the situation. Notre Dame has notified all officials that if they so much as speak to anyone about any information about about the situation they will “Never work for Notre Dame again”.

The plot thickens when a diehard Te’o began a twitter friendship with “Lennay”. After “Lennay’s” alleged death, the anonymous fan became friends “Lennays’ older sister U'ilani Rae Kekua. They both decided to meet at a Notre Dame game in L.A., but the person she met with was not U'ilani; but in fact a man named Ronaiah Tuiasosopo. Tuiasosopo claimed to be a family member of “Lennay”. The anonymous source kept in contact and requested “Lennay’s” families address in an attempt to send flowers for her gravesite. The Address is reported to belong to the Tuiasosopo family. After phone numbers were exchanged with the source, it was found to have been registered to Titus Tuiasosopo, Ronaiah’s father. There have been a lot of allegations made on this matter but in conclusion all roads lead to Ronaiah Tuiasosopo who remains silent through this whole ordeal.
