Family of Civil Rights legend Emmett Till will be sitting down with PepsiCo about their decision to drop Lil' Wayne from endorsing Mountain Dew.
Rev. Al Sharpton is expected to be at the meeting as later today, as PepsiCo chooses to explain their decision to both parties.
After the outcry on Ross' recent lyrics, heads turned when Wayne said he "beat it up like Emmett Till," on his recent feature on Future's single Karate Chop (Remix).
Weezy released a statement shortly after Till's family began to speak on the line saying, "Moving forward, I will not use or reference Emmett Till or the Till family in my music, especially in an inappropriate manner," and that he would “like to take a moment to acknowledge your hurt."
The Till family decided not to accept his apology in a brief statement.
"We are aware of Lil' Wayne’s statement of acknowledgement of our family’s pain and our disapproval of referencing Emmett Till in his lyrical content."
"While it’s commendable that he has vowed to respect the legacy of Emmett Till and his memory to ‘not use or reference Emmett Till or the Till family in his music’, this statement falls short of an apology, as none is mentioned."
No word yet on who will replace Lil' Wayne with a new campaign.
