Ja Rule Released From Jail Early Today Only To Go Back In

Former Murder INC Rapper Ja Rule was released from jail today. The rapper who is also known as Jeffery Atkins was locked up June 2011 on gun charges in the Mid-State Correctional Facility in New York. Due to his celebrity status he was placed under protective custody while serving his sentence. Unfortunately for Atkins his freedom isn’t necessarily granted just yet. Although he was released this morning from prison he will now be required to serve a 28 month sentence on a federal tax evasion conviction. In a more optimistic light his lawyer expects he might only serve a 6 month sentence and be released to a halfway house. Information on where he will serve his sentence has not yet been released. It is possible he might have to serve his sentence in federal prison.
