The legend Aretha Franklin, who sung at President Obama’s 2009 inauguration weighed in on Beyonce’s lip-synching performance and she’s backing up her up!
Aretha Franklin says she knows how much pressure it is to put on a great performance in front of thousands of people at a historic event like this, including for President Obama. She recently spoke with ABC News and said when she heard Beyoncé’s national anthem performance was pre-recorded she laughed, “ I thought it was funny because the weather down there was about 46 or 44 degrees and for most singers that is just not good singing weather.” The ABC News reporter then confirmed to Aretha that it was actually 40 degrees on Monday in Washington D.C to which then Aretha laughed and said “I thought it was really funny, but she did a beautiful job with the pre-record … next time I’ll probably do the same.”
Jennifer Lopez also supported Beyonce's lip-synching decision when she visited Jon Stewart's The Daily Show. When asked about the scandal she replied, “Sometimes it happens when you are in certain stadiums and certain venues and things, they do pre-record stuff because you’re going to have that terrible slapback.”
And now the poster children for lip-synching or not singing at all has also risen from the ashes to be in Beyonce’s corner.
Surviving member of Milli Vanilli Fab Morvan decided to give his two cents on her performance saying, "You try to sing at temperatures like that and your voice cracks,” he said. “It’s really hard on your vocal chords.”
“People are out of their minds. It was three minutes — she’s made you happy for years. If a talented artist like Beyonce is getting blasted — then nobody is safe. Beyonce is the Diana Ross of our time. No one is safe!” he said.
Well if Milli Vanilli says it’s alright then it must be!
