As Team USA continues their winning streak in the Olympics delivering crushing blows after blows to every country they've played against so far it's no surprise that they would end up breaking records along the way.

And this is exactly what happened yesterday when USA destroyed Nigeria 156-73! USA led by 26 points in the first quarter after coming out the gate with a 13-0 run in the first few minutes causing Nigeria to call a timeout earlier then expected. That set the tone for the rest of the quarters as USA steamrolled to victory.

Having already scored 112 points by the 3rd quarter with 2 minutes left, Team USA were on track to breaking the Olympic record previously held by Brazil against Egypt in 1988.  Andre Iguodala sealed the deal when he hit a 3-pointer with about 4 minutes left on the clock & USA surpassed the Olympic record of 138 points.

Carmelo Anthony played a major role in USA's record breaking game as he made five 3-pointers in the first half & went on a scoring spree for the rest of the game! Melo's 37 point efforts lead to him break the highest scoring record held by an individual player in any basketball Olympiad, Stephon Marbury held the record with 31 points in 2004 against Spain.

"It's a great accomplishment to get that record, we did it in a very highly classy way. We went out there and we played basketball. We made shots. We make shots like that and play the way we played tonight, that record could have came on any team." Anthony humbly said.

The gold is within reach! USA! USA! USA!
