In its 5th year, Operation Ho Ho Ho 2009 gave back to the children of the New York Tri-State community by blessing them with many well deserved Christmas presents during this holiday season. The goal to bring children the spirit of Christmas was definitely met. Operation Ho Ho Ho made Christmas worthwhile for an estimated one thousand children in the NYC area by teaming up with gifts provided by the Hip Hop Has Heart Foundation and HOT 97. Cipha Sounds, Peter Rosenberg, and K. Foxx of the Cipha Sounds and Rosenberg Morning Show weekdays from 5am-10am, all took the opportunity to give board games, dolls, Mp3 players, New Era hats by House of Fitted, and Timberland Yele Haiti Eartherkeepers by Wyclef Jean. These are examples of the many gifts that brought smiles to the many innocent children's faces this Christmas season by HOT 97’s Operation Ho Ho Ho.
The Christmas giving spirit began with Cipha Sounds, Rosenberg and K. Foxx visiting the Harlem Hospital on Thursday December 17. While students from Harlem area Elementary School’s from age 5-9 attended Harlem Hospital’s holiday celebration our morning show team also brought some light into the hearts of the children at Harlem Hospital's pediatric ward who excitedly awaited there Christmas joy brought to them.
Operation Ho Ho Ho’s second stop of Christmas giving was at the Rockaway Boulevard Daycare Center in South Ozone Park, Queens. The HOT 97 Brand Ambassadors dropped in on the annual tree lighting and donated numerous gifts to about 50 kids at the Rockaway Boulevard Daycare Center from ages 3-5. Operation Ho Ho Ho not only gave gifts but helped demonstrate to the many impressionable kids what the spirit of Christmas truly means.
The next stop was the Cobble Hill School of African Studies. On Dec 21, the HOT 97 Brand Ambassadors dropped off multiple pairs of Timberland Yele Haiti Eartherkeepers by Wyclef Jean along with baseball caps courtesy of New Era & House of Fitted.
In these hard times, this was a memorable year for Operation Ho Ho Ho being implemented at HOT 97 and overall its successes were immeasurable. HOT 97 caters to children and teens of all ages. The goal of Operation Ho Ho Ho is to touch the lives of those in need during the Christmas season yearly. Many thanks must be given to the HOT 97 tri-state area listeners for their support and donations that helped in making this dream possible. This wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for our Summer Jam. Portions of Summer Jam ticket sales go to the Hip Hop Has Heart Foundation which allows us to give back and continue bringing many smiles, joy and happiness through Operation Ho Ho Ho. Operation Ho Ho Ho was a true example of what the Christmas season is all about and has continued yearly since its 2004 launch.
