Emmis Takes Community Seriously

At HOT 97, we value our community and listeners. We believe that a company has a responsibility to give something back to the communities in which it does business.  Using the power of our brand and our cause marketing department, Incite, we create annual events and radio programming that engage our listeners and give back to the community.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Each year, approximately 70 thousand men and women age 15 to 39 are diagnosed with cancer in the US. Breast cancer is the most common cancer for women in this age group. Women ages 15 to 34 and 35 to 54 die more frequently from breast cancer than any other cancer. African American women under age 35 have rates of breast cancer two times higher than Caucasian women under age 35. African American women under age 35 die from breast cancer three times as often as Caucasian women of the same age.

HOT 97 features the best on-air personalities on the East Coast! From Ebro to Nessa to Funk Flex, we’ve got you covered. You can meet them all here.

Community Events

is a vignette series where Hot97 celebrates iconic African Americans. Each February, Living Black History reaches the Tri-State’s African American Community through the airwaves and recognizes some of the greatest Black figures of all time.

The HOT 97 April Fools Comedy Show is an all-star lineup of talented comedians that brings laughter to our community every year!

Summer Jam is the biggest hip hop concert on the planet brought to you exclusively by HOT 97.  Over 50,000 people come together at MetLife Stadium to join the biggest brands and artists in the hip hop world. A portion of the ticket sales benefits the Hip Hop Has Heart Foundation.

Back To School
! Every September, HOT 97 has your back to school needs covered with everything you need! HOT 97 hosts events at various locations where kids can come and receive a book bag full of back to school swag and supplies to help make sure their first day of school is a success.

Each year, HOT 97 has your kids looking their best for back to school through our Kutz For Kidz program. Children ages 13 and under are invited to hit up their local barbershop or salon listed on HOT 97’s webpage for the chance to win a free hair cut or make over, school supplies, clothes and more!

Circle of Sisters is an annual, two-day expo taking place at the Jacob Javits Convention Center designed to unite and celebrate women of color. This event is designed for friends and families across all generations to come and enjoy stimulating seminars with both famous and expert panelists in their fields, show with unique vendors, listen to live broadcasts and enjoy exceptional live concerts.

Lift ‘Em Up is hosted by HOT 97’s Hip Hop Has Heart Foundation. Lift ‘Em Up is a holiday feast and night of inspiration. Each year, the Hip Hop Has Heart Foundation hosts a holiday meal to feed less fortunate families in the Tri-State area. Participants will be able to experience dining at its finest, with the gourmet food from celebrity servers, entertainment, and a Holiday Market with pre-packaged food baskets to be taken home.

The New York Cares Coat Drive is one of New York City’s largest and most cherished philanthropic traditions, providing local residents a way to meaningfully support their community during the holiday season. Homeless men, women, children and infants, the working poor, and at-risk senior citizens from partnering nonprofit agencies and schools all get coats.
