The gunman who is responsible for shooting 12 people dead in the NAval Sea Systems Command headquarters in Washington, D.C. early Monday morning has been ID'd as 34-year-old Aaron Alexis, a Navy vet from New York.
Alexis, who apparently stole an ID to gain access into the building, began shooting up the place with his AR-15 and a handgun at approximately 8 A.M.
U.S. Navy Captain Mark Vandroff told Fox News, “A little after 8, we heard a loud noise and didn’t think anything of it. He also added, “Someone with the presence of mind, and if I find out who it is, I’m going to thank them for it, closed our office doors.
"They sounded like 'pop, pop, pop,'" said Patricia Ward, a logistics management specialist who was in the cafeteria when the shots broke out. "Everybody just panicked at first ... It was just people running, running, running."
Alexis had a past of gun violence after reports came to the light of him shooting a bullet through one of his former neighbor's apartments. He was discharged from the Navy two years ago. After he exchanged gunfire with the police on the scene, he was left dead.
What's up with these crazies now-a-days? Even in government buildings, nobody is safe. Damn shame.
