#GOSSIP: JAY-Z TALKS FATHERLESS CHILDHOOD, BEYONCE AND BABY IN 'GQ' MEN OF THE YEAR ISSUE

Brooklyn-born rapper turned mogul Jay-Z has landed one of the coveted GQ magazine’s December covers for its annual “Men of the Year” issue, which hits newsstands November 22.

In the issue Jay-Z, 41, reveals that wife Beyoncé decided to announce her pregnancy at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, saying: “It was actually Bey who wanted to (announce) it. You want to be in control of your life.”

Jay-Z, also goes on to open up about growing up a single parent home after his father walked out on the family.

“If your dad died before you were born, yeah, it hurts — but it’s not like you had a connection with something that was real,” Hov says. “Not to say it’s any better — but to have that connection and then have it ripped away was, like, the worst. My dad was such a good dad that when he left, he left a huge scar. He was my superhero.”

On eventually confronting his father Jay-Z says, “I talked about what it did to me, what it meant, asked him why. There was no real answer. There was nothing he could say, because there’s no excuse for that. There really isn’t. So there was nothing he could say to satisfy me, except to hear me out. And it was up to me to forgive and let it go.”

While the rapper appears on his own GQ cover, he also shares the magazine’s annual honor with three other men and one woman: Justin Timberlake, Jimmy Fallon, Michael Fassbender and Mila Kunis.
