Massive B
Over 10 Years ago Bobby Konders and Jabba came together to form Massive B Sound System. Working alongside one another, Bobby and Jabba have become prominent voices within the reggae community being heard all throughout the tri-state on WQHT Hot 97.1 and internationally in the dancehall arena. They present music and dancehall culture to the listening public in a unique and fun way packed with high energy and positive vibes. Based in NYC you can catch their radio broadcast each Sunday on Hot 97 from 10pm-1am. Massive B can also be heard playing many dates both locally and abroad (Europe, Asia, Canada, the Caribbean, etc. . . ) where they have juggled alongside an innumerable host of popular sounds and DJ’s that have included Hot 97’s own Funk Master Flex, Jamaica’s ever popular Stone Love, Trinidad’s Chinese Laundry, and Japan’s Mighty Crown.
Over the last four year Massive B has ever increased it presents with its latest recruits Chutney shotter and Big Dawg (a.k.a Bling). Chutneyand Big Dawg have both contributed to sound bringing there own flava and experience. Big Dawg, getting his start on the collage scene (Stern School of Business, NYU graduate) brings big sound vibes to the dancehall behind the turntables, behind the amp rack, and behind the keyboard. Selecting alongside Jabba, Big Dawg also engineers the massive sound system for Massive B and recently manages updates to Massive B’s website.
Under the vision of original producer and founder Bobby Konders, Massive B has been a leading independent label putting out a variety of music with a concentration on reggae, hip-hop, and dancehall. Over the years (since 1991) Konders has produced and remixed recordings from such diverse artists as Shabba Ranks, Aswad, Buju Banton, Supercat, Ziggy Marley, Herb Alpert, and Caron Wheeler (Soul II Soul). Massive B is an urban based label with roots in Brooklyn, New York and Kingston, JA. Being based in these communities, it was a natural breeding ground for reggae hip-hop hits including the Bounty Killer/ Jeru the Damaja combination, "Suicide or Murder". Rap sensation Blazhay Blazhay got their start on Massive B as well under the name "Hostile Takeover".
Massive B will always continue to put out "Music For the People"
