HOT 97 Attends Russell Simmons' 2nd Hip Hop Inaugural Ball [PHOTOS]

On Sunday HOT 97 attended The Hip-Hop Inaugural Ball in Washington DC. The ball was organized by Russell Simmons, Hip-Hop Summit Action Network, and Philanthropik. La La Anthony along with Terrence J hosted the event which took place at The Harman Center for the Arts.
The Hip-Hop Inaugural Ball celebrated the hip-hop community’s role in popular culture and the 2012 election. 2 Chainz, John Legend, Rosario Dawson, Swizz Beatz, and Meek Mill, were recognized for their role that hip-hop played in registering and mobilizing voters.
Charles "ROC" Dutton and Jadakiss were also on hand to give the audience a sneak peak of their upcoming movie, "Must Be The Music".
Hip-Hop Icons Doug E. Fresh and MC Lyte received the lifetime achievements awards and performed for the crowd as well.
Other performers included Wayne Brady, Marsha Ambrosius, Yo-Yo, MC Smooth and Lil Mama. A special acknowledgement was made in recognition of the role the Hispanic/Latina hip-hop community played in galvanizing large numbers of Hispanics to vote by honoring Voto Latino. Actress Rosario Dawson accepted the award on behalf of Voto Latino, the non-partisan organization she co-founded to bring new and diverse voices into the political process by engaging youth, media, technology and celebrities to promote positive change.
Dr. Benjamin Chavis was also given special recognition. The HSAN President, was honored for his work as a mentor and advocate within the hip-hop community and for his life-long commitment to the Civil Rights Movement.
Other special attendees included HOT 97's Miss Info, Angela Simmons, Karen Civil, Elliot Wilson and more.
