Music Industry veteran and Author of The Tanning Of America:How Hip Hop Created A Culture The Rewrote The Rules Of The New Economy sat with Angie Martinez to talk about his book turned documentary that aired on VH1 last night.
Angie asked Steve Stoute to list his top 5 most influential people in Hip Hop. He went on to list Jay Z, DR. Dre, Diddy, Pharrell and Kanye West. Steve Stoute then gives reasoning to why 50 Cent isn't part of the "Influential" posse. "I feel like he's gearing up for somethign that never happens. Hopefully, now that he's independent and there's no record company to blame, his aggressive content can get on air". If you ask Stoute, 50 Cents lack of hits set him back a whole lot. "The last great song he made was 'I Get Money'," then Stoute adds "Kanye West put three, four albums since then".
February 24th-27th The Tanning Of America documentary will be airing on VH1 at 11 p.m.
