CJ Fly came on Real Late With Rosenberg to talk Capital STEEZ, missing a meeting with Jay Z, and playing the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival this Saturday.

CJ Fly talked about being a part of the Pro Era crew out of Brooklyn with Joey Bada$$ and the rest of their friends. The late Capital STEEZ founded the group, according to CJ, which started with them cutting class and freestyling at Edward R. Murrow High School. Fast forward a couple years and Joey Bada$$ and CJ Fly are on the Smokers Club tour when Joey gets a call from Jay Z saying that he wanted to meet, according to Fly. CJ told Rosenberg about how a miscommunication between him and Joey caused him to miss the meeting with Jay Z, but he isn’t concerned, saying that he will get his meeting when the time is right.

CJ Fly also talked about what it was like to lose Capital STEEZ, the founding member of Pro Era who took his own life two days before Christmas in 2012. Fly says that he doesn’t know if he will ever come to terms with the loss but that he feels like the crew matured through the situation and have come to a greater understanding of it.
