Watch Common's Inspirational Speech At 2015 Golden Globe Awards [VIDEO]
On Sunday night (Jan 11), Prince stepped on staged at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards to present the award of the Best Original Song.
The award went to the Common and John Legend for their original single "Glory" for the movie Selma.
Inspired by the movie, Common gave one of the most inspirational speeches by freestyling his experience filming the movie and tied it into some of the struggles that we see today.
“The first day I stepped on the set of Selma, I began to feel like this was bigger than a movie,” Common said. “As I got to know the people of the Civil Rights Movement, I realized I am the hopeful black woman who was denied her right to vote. I am the caring white supporter who was killed on the front lines of freedom. I am the unarmed black kid who who maybe needed a hand but instead was given a bullet. I am the two fallen police officers, murdered in the line of duty. ‘Selma’ has awakened my humanity.”
It was so good, that even Jay Z came out of his Twitter silence to celebrate the win.
Selma is in theaters now.
