It was a big night for Donald Glover!

Who says you have to live in a box. The man also known as Childish Gambino has a hit song on the radio, tried his hand at standup comedy, and now can call himself an Emmy winner for the hit show Atlanta

Last night (Sept. 17), won two Emmy's for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Directing in a Comedy Series.

He becomes the first African American to hold the award.

“I’m so happy. Wow. Thank you guys so much. This is nuts. I really want to thank the academy again, all of you guys in here,” he said. He later continued by sarcastically giving his thanks to the President of the United States. “I want to thank Trump for making black people number one on the most oppressed list. He’s the reason I’m probably up here.”

That wasn't the only first though!

Lena Waithe became the first African-American woman to win the award for writing for a comedy series. She along with Aziz Ansari gained the award partially for co-writing the popular "Thanksgiving" episode of Master of None which was based on her coming out as a lesbian.
