If you’re trying to go to the Superbowl XLVIII this year at Met Life Stadium be prepared to pay more.
According to the Wall Street Journal, having the Superbowl in a New York market instantly boots up the ticket prices. Tickets sold at $1,250 last year in New Orleans will be bumped up to $2,600 and $950 tickets are now $1500 at Met Life Stadium in February.
However, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy says the cheap seats are only $500 this year as opposed to costing $600 last year. But not to fear because about 40 percent of tickets will still cost you less than $1,000 and the league is considering lowering the upper level tickets from $950 last season to $800 this season.
The main reason behind the NFL’s price increase besides it being in New York, is insurance for them just in case fans try to sell tickets. In other words, they want to be able to benefit from the prices and not lose out to scalpers should they and probably will sell them off.
The Superbowl is going down February 2nd, 2014 (on my birthday ahem lol) so start saving if you want to go!
