If you’re not into soccer, I’m here to say that you should be.

Myself along with some of the HOT97 staff were special guests of the New York Red Bulls at their playoff game last night at Red Bulls stadium. It was truly an experience – from inside the stadium to the beautiful suite, to seeing how wild a soccer crowd can be chanting and waving flags for their team, this is really an exciting sport. The best way I can compare the fans and what I saw is…Duke basketball.

Although the Red Bulls lost to the Houston Dynamo and didn’t advance, it’s incredible to see the allegiance Red Bulls fans have to their team. The attention they’ve garnered from people all around the city has really grown in the past years and with the addition of having one of the best soccer players in the world in 2010, Thierry Henry, as the captain of the squad, there’s no doubt that the team’s popularity will continue to grow worldwide.

I just wanted to share my experience with those who weren’t too crazy about soccer or thought it was boring. Seeing the players do these amazing leg tricks in person -- cutting off their opponent and passing it off for the goal has converted me. And being there for a playoff game? Even that much better.
