The acceptance of homosexuality in sports is still an issue,but we are slowly but surely making big strides to change that.

First, NBA player Jason Collins announced that he was gay making him the first active player in the NBA to do so and now a potential NFL draft prospect, Michael Sam of the Missouri Tigers, announced on ESPN’s “Outside The Lines” that he is also gay.

Sam, is an All-American defensive lineman from Missouri, AP’s SEC co-Defensive Player of the Year and has contributed to his team’s season with 111 / 2 sacks, 19 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles.

According to reports, Sam is going to be chosen as high as the third round during the draft in May, and if he does find a team, will then officially become the first openly gay player in NFL history.
