Happy 50th Anniversary Sports Illustrated!
The magazine that makes you want to hit the gym every time it drops celebrated it's 50th anniversary featuring a topless trois bombshell on the cover. Chrissy Teigen, Agdal, and Lily Aldridge grace the cover of this month's issue and may possibly be the best-selling issue to hit the stands.
Sports Illustrated dubbed the cover “some of the hottest real estate a supermodel can inhabit, ” comparing the space to a $50 million Tribeca triplex. All three models were told they snagged the cover yesterday afternoon before it was was revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live where the cover was dropped outside the studio for all to see.
Sports Illustrated posted a video of the models reactions to landing the front page. Teigen was on the verge of tears as she saw the cover, Aldridge gave Day a hug, and Agdal video-conferenced in from Palm Springs, and was really excited.
Teigen even shared her thoughts on the honor, "We really honestly liked each other,” Teigen said, according to Sports Illustrated. “Of course you are going to hear that from anybody who does a group shot, but this time it’s true. The connection was natural and the mood was fun.”
The trio is pictured in knee-deep crystal blue waters of the Cook Islands, their arms around each other, and their smiling faces turned to the shore. Aldridge and Allen are clad in orange thong bikini bottoms and Teigen models a barely-there pink bikini.
Teigen has been a consistent model in the swimsuit issue since her debut in 2010 where she was named “Rookie of The Year.” Two years after Teigen, Agdal made her S.I. debut and was also given the same honors. Victoria’s Secret's Lily Aldridge, makes a splash with her first swimsuit edition appearance on the cover. Aldridge is the first “rookie” to grace the cover of the swimsuit edition since German supermodel Heidi Klum in 1998.
The event celebrating S.I's anniversary was hosted by Heidi Klum and featured guests like Tyra Banks and Chrissy Teigen's hubby John Legend.
The 2014 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue hits newsstands February 18.
