Richard Sherman Says Seahawks Figured Out Peyton’s Signals + Lakers’ Pau Gasol Being Trade To Suns?
The Seattle Seahawks defense obliterated the Denver Broncos’ offense at SuperBowl XLVIII, causing turnovers, one TD and the great Peyton Manning to throw picks throughout the game and now we know why.
Richard Sherman spoke to Monday Morning Quarterback’s Robert Klemko and told him that the team were able to figure out Manning’s hand signals and audibles in the first half of the game.
Sherman told Klemko, “All we did was play situational football. We knew what route concepts they liked on different downs, so we jumped all the routes. Then we figured out the hand signals for a few of the route audibles in the first half.”
Sherman went on to say that the Seahawks were calling out Peyton’s plays and getting them right.
“Me, Earl [Thomas], Kam [Chancellor]… we’re not just three All-Pro players. We’re three All-Pro minds,” Sherman says. “Now, if Peyton had thrown in some double moves, if he had gone out of character, we could’ve been exposed.”
Makes a lot of sense.
In NBA news, it’s been rumored for a while that Lakers’ Pau Gasol was being traded from the team and it appears the rumors might turn into reality soon.
Sources told ESPN.com that the Suns, among the options being weighed as part of their well-chronicled desire to acquire an established player as they make an unexpected playoff push this season, have been exploring the feasibility of trading for the Lakers’ four-time All-Star.
One option for the Suns, by virtue of their $5.6 million in available salary-cap space, is swapping the expiring contract of injured big man Emeka Okafor for Gasol, even though Okafor’s $14.5 million salary this season falls well shy of Gasol’s $19.3 million.
How do we feel about this trade?
