Interview: Kid Ink Holds It Down For The West Coast

Kid Ink's first Summer Jam

Kid Ink was the only performer on the festival stage from the West Coast. He performed some hits from his new EP Almost Home, finishing with his hit "Bad Ass" ft. Meek Mill and Wale.

When I asked what performing at Summer Jam meant for him, he said,

"The two biggest things that are exciting for me are, one being that I am the only west coast artist on stage. And me being here for the first time-- it's actually my first time being at this show period. I feel like it's really big for me to represent my coast."

Obviously being the only one on the festival stage from the west coast garners some kind of pressure. Ink reflected saying,"

"[Do I feel pressure?] A little bit, of course. But being under pressure just makes you work harder and I don't know about other people but... the second thing for me too is I get to perform new records from my EP "Almost Home." That kind of takes off the pressure because I'm so ready to perform them and see the response I get from the people and the fans and really see how they vibe out here in New York. I feel like I got some records that vibe out here a lot better than my old music."
