Jhené Aiko

Jhené Aiko has shattered the glass ceiling with Def Jam’s biggest-ever EP debut week. Her SAIL OUTEP released November 11th on ARTium/Def Jam Recordings- enters the Soundscan chart at # 8 on first week sales of 33,934 copies. It’s also #1 on the R&B chart. ARTium/ Def Jam is the exclusive label venture between Island Def Jam Music Group (IDJ) and producer No I.D., named Executive Vice President of A&R for Def Jam in 2011.

The only female artist on this year’s 10th Anniversary Rock The Bells Hip-Hop Festival Tour, Jhené also recently finished the Drake Tour 2013, a massive 39-city North American itinerary. The tour, featured Jhené /Drake duet From Time” off of his current album.

The 7-track Sail Out   EP is capped by Jhené’s sizzling single “The Worst”. “The Worst” follows the success of “Bed Peace” featuring Childish Gambino—the video to which is a tribute to the seminal film Give Peace a Chance by John Lennon and Yoko Ono.  Sail Out also contains collaborations from Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, and Vince Staples, as well as her critically acclaimed debut track of 2012,“3:16am” (featured on VH1’s Black Ink Crew). 

25-year old Los Angeles native Jhené Aiko is over a decade deep in the music game, having been featured on singles, albums and mixtapes by urban A-listers such as Kendrick Lamar, Wale, Big Sean, Logic, J. Cole, Drake, and many more. Jhené was signed to IDJ by No I.D., known for his studio work with Kanye West, JAY Z, Rick Ross, Nas, and Common to name a few. She is also managed by ArtClub International, whom she credits for sparking and guiding her career. Most recently, Jhené was featured on Big Sean’s breakout single “Beware,” off his Hall of Fame album (executive produced by No I.D.), and also on Drake’s “From Time,” found on his new album, Nothing Was The Same.

On top of her epic music credits, Jhené has participated in the Beats By Dre “Pill Box” and “Show Your Color” campaigns, and was nominated in Billboard’s 2013 “Next Diva” competition.  Her social media stats confirm Jhené’s popularity: 3.19 million YouTube views; 317,000 Twitter followers; 391,000 Instagram followers; 61,000 Facebook likes; and 1.2 million Soundcloud plays on single “Bed Peace.”
