Remember late last year in December when Canadian graphic artists started "REBRAND THE NBA" Project?
Recently the NBA has been trying to find a way to make the teams and players more unique and Dead Dilly answered the call. Dead Dilly created "what if" jerseys combining luxury brands, artists, and musicians to create mind blowing jerseys.
At the moment, the league is still dabbling in efforts to rebrand the NBA for themselves and trying out some drastic changes like "Nickname Jersey's" Welcome to the ADIDAS family NBA Jerseys. This Friday, the Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets will wear AdidasHoops jerseys with their nicknames on the back for their game.
Here’s a look at Ray Allen, LeBron James’ “KING JAMES” and Norris Cole’s “COLE TRAIN”:
Along with re-designed jerseys, the NBA could be re-branding all together. The fight to go back to the original old school logos or get a new look has been the NBA talk for a couple weeks now. During the holiday week, all 30 teams had to wear jersey t-shirts during holiday games but it's not yet clear if they will have to be worn during the season or if the nickname jerseys will become the new league jerseys, which I highly doubt.. As far as the jersey shirts, the NBA and NBA Cares has announced their "Live Healthy Week" campaign where the shirts will be brought out again. All 30 teams will wear the red "FIT" embossed warm up shirts, red sneakers and special headbands at their own local events this week.
Look-out during the season, the NBA might be coming out with more surprises and gain some style points in the process. Who knows, maybe Dead Dilly might have started something. With the rise of street wear and the growing influence it has, the NBA might be re-designed by DONDA, Supreme, or Hood By Air.
