The HOT 97 Morning Show

Mariah Carey is set to make a comeback with her new single “Almost Home,” taken from the soundtrack of the upcoming film Oz The Great and Powerful.

“Almost Home” was co-written/produced by Mariah Carey and the Stargate production squad, which consists of Simone Porter, Lindsey Ray and Justin Gray and is set to be released on February 19th.

Fashion photographer David LaChapelle will be directing the music video for “Almost Home,” which is scheduled to be released on. He’s worked with Mariah in the past, shooting videos for “My All”, “Loverboy” and “Glitter.”

The release date of the song comes two weeks before the release of the movie which follows the novel "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by Frank Baum. This film is set before the classic Wizard Of Oz movie we all know and love. It will show the rise of Oz himself, before Dorothy arrives to Oz. The movie is directed by Sam Raimi and stars James Franco as Oz, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz and Zack Braff.

Here’s the trailer:

I’m already a huge fan of The Wizard of Oz and whenever there’s a remake or another version of a story being made into film, it can either be really good or really bad (i.e Charlie & The Chocolate Factory) but this looks like it’s going to be incredible!

The movie hits theaters March 8th.
