The HOT 97 Morning Show

All the naysayers and haters who said Justin Timberlake’s return to music and his new album would be a flop have all been shushed.

The blue-eyed soul singer is tapped in to sell close to 975,000 copies of his first album since 2006’s Future Sex/Love Sounds. According to Billboard and SoundScan, who tracks sales from Monday-Sunday each week, “The 20/20 Experience” was initially projected to sell 500,000 units but jumped up to 950-975,000 by Sunday.

Though the official numbers won’t be released until tomorrow morning, there is a huge possibility that JT could sell a million records in the first week of release for 20/20 and if he does, it would be the 19th album to ever do so since SoundScan started tracking sales in 1991.

Respectively, Taylor Swift's Red was the last album to sell 1.2 million units in the first week of release last fall. For a male artist, Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV’s numbers has not been matched since it’s release in September 2011 which sold 964,000 copies.

There is no doubt that JT will land in the No.1 spot on Billboard 200 and his "Suit & Tie" confidante Jay-Z decided to chime in on the chances of him selling 1 million copies on Twitter.

The once-in-a-blue tweeter tweeted this to Justin to which the singer tweeted back:

I had a feeling JT would do well with this new album, I mean Suit & Tie sold 450,000 copies digitally! One thing is for sure, JT will not be denied because his old fans (N’SYNCers what’s up) and his new fans are by the millions!
