A$AP Rocky has been making his mark in the fashion world and in this recent interview with a beauty and fashion website, his comments has rubbed some people the wrong way.
Some are upset with A$AP’s comments about women with dark skin not being able to pull off red lipstick versus a woman with fair skin.
He answered beauty questions for The Coveteur and when asked about women wearing make up replied, “But you girls don’t understand how much you mess up your skin. You can’t help it, but make-up is the worst thing you can do to your skin. I love girls natural, but I don’t mind make-up. There’s nothing wrong with it, there’s really nothing wrong with it. I feel like with the red lipstick thing it all depends on the pair of complexion . I’m just being for real. You have to be fair skinned to get away with that. Just like if you were to wear like—f*cking for instance, what do dark skin girls have that you know fair skinned girls cant do… Purple lipstick? Naw, that looks stupid on all girls! Purple lipstick, guys! Like, what the f*ck…”
I beg to differ. Women of all skin tones can wear a red lip, it’s just a matter of choosing the right shade. The right shade makes all the world of a difference between looking edgy and looking like bozo the clown.
But we also have to take into consideration that it’s a matter of preference and A$AP is entitled to his own opinion of what he thinks looks good on a woman.
Here are some of the best red lip looks I feel that women with dark skin have worn. Again you don’t have to have fair skin like Taylor Swift to wear red:
