Yesterday was a big day for NY Sports!
Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry are all going to the Brooklyn Nets in a blockbuster trade with Boston Celtics.
K.G waiving his no-trade clause was what finally moved the deal forward.
In exchange, Brooklyn will give up three first-round picks (2014, 2016 and 2018) along with Kris Humphries, Gerald Wallace, Kris Joseph, MarShon Brooks and Keith Bogans. It was first reported that Reggie Evans and Tornike Shengelia were being traded but in the final decision, the Brooklyn Nets decided to move Brooks and Bogans.
Jason Terry, who wasn’t part of the original deal, was added to the trade after Brooklyn worked out a deal over the remaining three years and $30 million left on Wallace’s contract.
Boston gets either Brooklyn's pick or Atlanta's pick, whichever is worse in 2014, while in 2017, Boston has the right to trade picks with Brooklyn.
The Nets also did great at the 2013 NBA Draft, picking up Duke’s Mason Plumlee, a 7-foot center with great athleticism.
In NY Knicks news, the team were able to pick up, ironically, Michigan’s shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr, who helped lead the Wolverines to the NCAA championship game. (Man, did I hate the Heat and Tim Hardway back in the day lol.)
Tim is known for his outstanding catch-and-shoot style of playing, his perimeter shooting, and is an all around great defender, something the Knicks need, and lacked in their guard J.R Smith.
Whewwwww, a very interesting night for NY basketball!
