The twerking phenomenon has taken a huge stride.
Besides Miley Cyrus twerking on the VMA stage and ABC News giving a scientific analysis (I'll get to that in a minute), twerking is now officially part of the English language.
Now when you're looking up the word in the Oxford Dictionary you will find:
"Pronunciation: /twəːk/ verb [no object] informal dance to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving thrusting hip movements and a low, squatting stance"
It gets better though, Oxford Dictionary includes sample sentences such as "just wait till they catch their daughters twerking to this song."
And if you need a better understanding of the term "twerking", why not have a Ph.D researcher break down the complex subject.
Professor of Exercise Science, Michelle Olson, explains that twerking is a combination of a pelvic tilt and a deep squat. Olsen is also a certified strength and conditioning coach at Auburn University in Alabama.
Olson explains that twerking works out the lower back and abdominal core muscles and the deep muscles of the hip.
It will definitely shape and strengthen those muscles as well as give them stamina for certain activities.
Wow LOL. I hope they don't start having gym classes over this. Your choice of yoga, Zumba....and twerking?
