Despite of what Pusha T told Vibe earlier this summer, Joaquin Phoenix is not responsible for producing the track “King Push” on Pusha T’s new album “My Name Is My Name”. The song “King Push,” is the intro to the album, and the streets were saying the track was produced by both Phoenix and Kanye West. However, Phoniex states this isn’t all completely true.
“While it was widely reported that Pusha T used my beat and that I produced his song, I can’t take any credit,” he said. ”A friend’s son played me his music, and all I did was make an introduction to Kanye’s camp.”
Push told Vibe back in August that he submitted the album to label boss Kanye West this past June. Kanye followed up with a contribution of some additional beats for the album. “One of those beats was from Joaquin Phoenix, and it’s probably gonna be…I want it to be the intro to my album,” he said at the time..
To clear all the rumors, there was a mistake along the way. Phoenix’s role was to introduce his friend’s son’s music to Kanye West. Ye apparently liked the beat and passed it along to Pusha-T to use on My Name Is My Name. Stay tuned for the album that’s set to drop October 8th.
The show airs next Tuesday. Tune in!
