Quinshon Shingles claimed that plainclothes officers forced him to rap while he was handcuffed in his cousin’s apartment back in 2011.
Shingles felt like he was being humiliated. “They were all Caucasian officers, and I’m a black man,” said Shingles. “They had me performing for my freedom. I was really upset.”
It is reported that the police got into his cousin’s apartment after they got a key from the buildings superintendent. Shingles would not let the police in the apartment because they didn’t have a warrant. The cops searched the apartment and when they learned Shingles was a rapper, they told him to “rap something.” The officers liked what they heard and let him go.
David Grieco, one of the officers who is tied up in the allegations has also been under investigation for other illegal searches and theft.
Shingles has filed a lawsuit against the NYPD in Brooklyn Federal Court.
