Emmett Till's Family Trying To Get Mountain Dew To Drop Lil Wayne [VIDEO]
Although Epic Records pulled the remix off the airwaves and apologized on Wayne's behalf, the estate of Emmett Till are still trying to hit the Young Money honcho in the pockets in a bid to get his attention.
As you may know, Lil Wayne has offended Emmett Till’s family in a verse off of an unreleased remix of “Karate Chop” by Future where he raps “Beat that p---y up like Emmett Till.” Emmett Till was a 14 year old boy that was murdered in 1955 after supposedly whistling at a white woman.
Emmett’s family did write an open letter to Weezy but reportedly received no response from him. Now, they’re taking it a step further and trying to pressure Mountain Dew into dropping their sponsorship with Wayne, similar to how women’s rights group UltraViolet successfully did with Rick Ross’ Reebok deal over his “date rape” lyrics.
It appears we’re living in a new age of hip-hop where rappers are going to have to watch what they say in songs or potentially get in trouble.
