Kerry Washington Becomes The First Black Actress To Earn An Emmy Nod Since 1995
Scandal's leading actress Kerry Washington has earned her first Emmy nomination for Best Leading Actress in a Drama series since Cicily Tyson in 1995.
There are a total of 96 nominees, Washington being one of the five black actors, may have the chance to be the first Black actress to win in September.
On her nomination, Washington told Entertainment Tonight, "I feel really excited and proud to live in a world where a show that embodies so much diversity on so many levels."
ABC's Scandal will be returning with season three on October 3rd and will appear on Thursday nights.
