Meek Mill found unexpected support from fans after Drake’s feud with Kendrick Lamar took a legal turn. The feud reignited heated debates, with many drawing parallels to the infamous clash between Drake and Meek years earlier.
The uproar began when news broke that Drake had filed legal complaints targeting Lamar’s song “Not Like Us.” Social media erupted, with fans quick to contrast the handling of Drake’s feud with Meek’s response during their earlier beef.
One user commented, “When Drake buried Meek in that battle, everyone joined the party. Now that the tables have turned, he doesn’t seem to like the heat.” Another added, “Meek took his loss, regrouped, and delivered Championships. There’s a certain honor in that.”
Drake, however, is facing a more intense backlash. Critics have accused the Toronto rapper of overstepping with his lawsuits, with some even speculating that this could mark a downward spiral in his career.
Meek Mill, never one to shy away from public discourse, appeared to weigh in subtly on the controversy. “But Meek be tripping,” he tweeted cryptically, followed by, “Yeah Ard!” The posts seemed to hint at his thoughts on Drake’s escalating legal strategy.
Drake’s first complaint accuses Universal Music Group (UMG) and Spotify of orchestrating a fraudulent campaign to inflate streaming numbers for Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” He also filed a defamation lawsuit against Lamar, alleging the song falsely accuses him of being a “certified pedophile” and “predator.” In an additional claim, Drake accused UMG of knowingly distributing the track despite its damaging allegations.
The legal dispute didn’t stop there. A Texas court filing reveals that Drake also targeted iHeartRadio, accusing the company of using illegal financial incentives to promote Lamar’s diss track on Spotify.
While the dust is far from settling, the controversy has sparked a broader discussion about accountability in the music industry. For fans of both artists, it’s a stark reminder of the thin line between lyrical rivalry and personal attacks.
Meek Mill’s quiet resilience in his past feud serves as a contrast to the current firestorm, leaving many to wonder whether Drake’s aggressive tactics will backfire in the long run.
