Lil Durk is facing serious murder-for-hire charges related to the killing of Quando Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson. However, one aspect of the prosecution’s case has been challenged by producer and engineer jusvibes, whose real name is Justin Gibson. Gibson, who has worked with Durk since 2021 and is considered his “main sound engineer,” submitted an affidavit and supporting screenshots to the court on Sunday, December 15. His evidence appears to discredit the prosecution’s claim that Durk sought to profit from Robinson’s death by rapping about it.

Prosecutors had pointed to lyrics from Durk’s track with Babyface Ray, “Wonderful Wayne and Jackie Boy,” which they argued referenced a news clip of Robinson’s murder. They highlighted the line, “Look on the news and see your son/ You screamin’, ‘No, no,’” claiming it was inspired by audio of Quando Rondo screaming after discovering Robinson’s body.

However,Gibson’s, aka jusvibes, affidavit states that he watched Durk write his verse and recorded it during a studio session on January 25, 2022—nearly seven months before Robinson’s death. He included screenshots showing that he had saved a rough draft of the track on that same date, which contradicts the prosecution’s timeline.

In addition to the Robinson case, Durk has also been linked to the murder of alleged Chicago gang leader Stephon Mack. Newly unsealed court documents reveal that Durk allegedly funded the January 2022 shooting of Mack, in retaliation for the 2021 killing of his brother, Dontay “DThang” Banks. Although Durk has not been charged in Mack’s death, an investigation is ongoing.
