Bun B recently revealed how the RZA helped him deal with the loss of his partner Pimp C’s passing.
During a conversation with Raekwon on Hip-Hop Wired’s “I Got Questions,” Bun detailed connecting with RZA who lost Ol Dirty Bastard three years earlier.
“When I lost Pimp, a lot of people called and offered their condolences. One of the people that called me was RZA,” Bun said. “Y’all had just lost [Ol’ Dirty Bastard]. He reached out to me and he was like, ‘I just wanted to call you and offer my condolences and just talk with you because we recently went through something like that.’ And we just talked about grief and loss”
“My first conversation ever with this brother was about that. And it was such a blessing. It was words like that from him that really gave me strength at the moment to know like okay, maybe not today, but eventually I’m gonna find a way to deal with this and move forward but still honor him,” Bun continued.
The rap legends also spoke about Raekwon’s “Snow Beach” pullover jacket by Ralph Lauren. He wore it in Wu-Tang Clan’s “Can It All Be So Simple” video.
Bun B displayed his own jacket telling ‘The Chef’, “You created the most sought-after Polo piece ever.”
Raekwon then shared how he got to rock the iconic jacket. Because the Wu didn’t have a budget for the video, he wanted to stand out with the most colorful shirt he could find. Eventually, he discovered the Polo jacket in a downtown Brooklyn store.
“I had to look around, like no way that s—t is sitting in here,” Rae said.
Elsewhere in the conversation, Bun B detailed how UGK almost didn’t record “Big Pimpin’” with Jay-Z.
Raekwon shared about how he was selected as one of the artists to get a solo deal with another label.
