According to reports, Lil Wayne has secured rising star Travis Hunter for his Young Money sports agency.
Renowned for his dynamic play on both offense and defense, Hunter is widely projected to be a first-round pick in next year’s NFL Draft, regardless of where he ultimately plays. Nonetheless, Wayne’s agency has secured the exclusive representation of Hunter, the newly crowned Heisman Trophy winner, recognized as college football’s top player. The rising organization is said to have surpassed industry giants like CAA, WME, and Rich Paul’s Klutch Sports Group, securing a competitve edge in the field.
So far, there has been no official comment from Hunter or Young Money on the reports, but speculation is growing about a potential collaboration following the Colorado Buffaloes star’s shoutout to Lil Wayne during his Heisman Trophy speech.
Travis Hunter’s Heartfelt Tribute to Lil Wayne: A Bond Beyond Music and Sports
Shifting his attention to the rap icon in the crowd, he remarked, “Wayne, you don’t know how you came into my life, man. My fiancée loves you. I didn’t know none of your songs until she let me know because I don’t listen to music.”
“She told me, ‘You gotta listen to this. If you don’t listen to music, listen to Wayne.’ And from that day on, that’s all I listen to. Pregame music, those are the songs I listen to. When I get in that [Dodge Ram] TRX and I blast that music, I’m listening to Wayne.” Hunter then channeled his inner Weezy, spitting lines from the 2011 anthem “6 Foot 7 Foot,” before following up with, “That’s my song.” Wayne expressed his gratitude in a post on X, saying, “Congratulations 2my brudda Travis mfkn Hunter!!! Heisman Trophy winner! Great speech King & Moms speech was just as amazing! She need 2b on tv somewhere!” “Congrats 2 Ashton, Cam, Dillon & all of their families! Honored 2be amongst the greatness. Young Money Sports manages athletes in various fields, from the NFL and NBA to soccer and college sports. Yet, last year, news broke that the agency parted ways with its marquee client, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, amid tensions over Lil Wayne’s political stance and his backing of then-President Donald Trump.
