On Saturday (Feb.8), Friends actor, David Schwimmer, jumped on Instagram to address Kanye West‘s recent online anti-Semitic tirade. “This is so 2022” Schwimmer begins in his lengthy post. The photo shows West with an all-black background with the words “I’m a Nazi,” in bold, red font. There’s also a screenshot listing some of the remarks West has made.
Schwimmer refers to him as a “deranged bigot” who uses “hate-filled, ignorant bile.” Then, the actor calls X CEO, Elon Musk to act and stop giving West a “megaphone.”
“Kanye West has 32.7 million followers on your platform, X,” Schwimmer writes in the caption. “That’s twice as many people than the number of Jews in existence. His sick hate speech results in REAL LIFE violence against Jews.”
“Silence is complicity,” The Actor Said Regarding Kanye West’s Recent Posts
Schwimmer continues: “I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that he identifies as a Nazi (which implies he wants to exterminate ALL marginalized communities including his own) or the fact that there is not sufficient OUTRAGE to remove and ban him from all social media at this point.”
In his opinion, Musk’s silence is “complicity.”
The College Dropout’s antics have also landed the attention of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). “Here we go again. Another egregious display of antisemitism, racism, and misogyny from @kanyewest,” the organization writes in a recent X post. “Just a few years ago, ADL found that 30 antisemitic incidents nationwide were tied to Kanye’s 2022 antisemitic rants.”
“We condemn this dangerous behavior and need to call it what it is: a flagrant and unequivocal display of hate.” So far, Musk has yet to respond to any of the recent controversy.
