JAY-Z’s ‘Reasonable Doubt’ Inducted Into Grammy Hall of Fame

JAY-Z’s classic debut album Reasonable Doubt, will be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. He is the only rap artist that will be recognized by the Academy this year.

Along with JAY-Z, Luther Vandross’ impeccable debut album Never Too Much, Santana’s 1999 comeback album Supernatural, and Gloria Estefan & Miami Sound Machine’s breakthrough hit “Conga” well also be inducted.

 Also, “How I Got Over” by Clara Ward, Tea For the Tillerman by Cat Stevens, “Color Him Father by Linda Martell, “Knock On Wood” by Eddie Floyd, J.D. Crowe & The New South by J.D. Crowe & The New South, “Last Kind Words Blues”, by Geeshie Wiley, Wrecking Ball by Emmylou Harris, and Zombie by Fela Kuti & Africa 70 will be recognized.

Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, lauded all of the worlds that will be inducted.

“It’s a privilege to recognize these eclectic recordings as the 2025 GRAMMY Hall Of Fame inductees. Music has the unique power to shape culture and mark moments in time,” Mason said. “Each inducted recording reflects that spirit, and we’re excited to celebrate these impactful works, ensuring their legacies continue to inspire generations to come.”

Regarded as one of the greatest albums in rap history, Reasonable Doubt hit shelves after its release in 1996. With standout tracks such as “Ain’t No Ni**a” featuring Foxy Brown, “Dead Presidents”, “Feelin’ It”, “Can’t Knock the Hustle” featuring Mary J. Blige, “ D’Evils”, and  “Brooklyn’s Finest” featuring the Notorious B.I.G. Other guests on the album include Memphis Bleek, Jaz-O, Sauce Money,  Production on the album was curated by DJ Premier, Ski, Knobody and Clark Kent.

Debuting at number 23 on the US Billboard 200 Reasonable Doubt charted for 18 weeks. The LP eventually went platinum has sold more thatn1.5 million copies.

The Grammys Hall of Fame Gala takes place in Los Angeles on May 16.
