During a tense encounter at Madison Square Garden, Lil Tjay was observed spitting on a security guard amidst a dispute with venue staff. The incident occurred while the rapper was there to witness Keyshawn Davis triumph over Denys Berinchyk. Tjay reportedly fell afoul of security after inadvertently causing damage to the venue’s setup.
The incident rapidly intensified, leading to a scuffle between security and the rapper, along with an associate from his group. As additional guards appeared to remove Tjay from the venue, footage captured him spitting at a security personnel member. Although it’s unclear if the Bronx local witnessed the bout, he secured a staggering $105,000 by wagering $15,000 on Davis to triumph by a knockout within the opening six rounds. Davis clinched the victory with a devastating third-round knockout when Berinchyk couldn’t recover from a punishing body blow.
From Legal Woes to Fan Love: Lil Tjay’s Journey of Recovery and Gratitude
Tione Merritt, known as Lil Tjay, has a history of legal troubles, having been arrested on his 23rd birthday last April at Miami-Opa Locka airport. The warrant stemmed from a missed court appearance in September 2021. Tjay was freed from custody on a $500 bond, though his mugshot soon circulated online. In a separate incident, the artist was shot multiple times in New Jersey in June 2022, leading to an emergency hospital visit for urgent surgery.
Post-recovery, Tjay conveyed his gratitude, noting how deeply he was moved by the fans’ backing. He shared, “Hey what’s going on y’all?” “I’m just checking in with y’all. I just wanna say, thanks for the love, thanks for the support. I’ve been looking at the DM’s, seeing the comments and everything else and I feel love.”
