Tracy Morgan is looking to bring the funny back to NBC.
The acclaimed comedian is teaming up with fellow SNL and 30 Rock alum Tina Fey for a brand new comedy series.
According to the press release, Morgan will star in a half-hour comedy series “Crutch,” which is scheduled to premiere later this year. His deal allows him to star in both projects in the future. The forthcoming half-hour comedy series “Crutch,” which “centers on a Harlem widower whose empty nest plans are put on hold after his millennial son and free-spirited daughter move back home.” The series is slated to premiere in 2025.
“Crutch” will be executive produced by Fey along with Robert Carlock and Sam Means, who also are 30 Rock alums.
Morgan and Fey first worked together on SNL, where Morgan was a cast member from 1996 to 2003. Fey was a writer and cast member from 1997 to 2006. The duo co-star in 30 Rock, which ran on NBC for seven seasons from 2006 to 2013.
Morgan’s previous show, The Last OG, ran for four seasons from 2018-2022.
During SNL50: The Red Carpet special, Morgan said he was grateful to attend the show’s 50th anniversary celebration after surviving a car accident in June 2014.
“This is incredible,” Morgan shared. “Just thank the Lord that I’m a part of this, that I survived the accident and I’m alive to be here for this.”
Last year, it was announced that Morgan would star in a Paramount spinoff of CBS’ “The Neighborhood” titled “Crutch,” “which Morgan will play the cousin to Cedric the Entertainer’s character, Calvin Butler.” Morgan’s deal allows him to star in both projects in the future.
