JID and Metro Boomin are building anticipation for their much-awaited collaborative album. During his performance at J. Cole’s Dreamville Festival over the weekend, JID introduced a new track titled “WRK,” signaling that their joint project is on the horizon. Afterward, JID shared a high-quality teaser of the song on social media. The track is available for pre-save on his website, where snippets of three more songs—“DRP,” “Killers Back,” and “HoodByJID Freestyle”—can also be found.
In an interview with Complex at the festival in Raleigh, JID opened up about his collaboration with Metro and his upcoming solo project, tentatively called Forever & A Day. While he didn’t give a firm release date, he assured listeners that progress was being made. “When the music is ready, you’ll know—it won’t leave you guessing,” he said. “It’ll speak for itself.”
JID and Metro Boomin: From Studio Teases to WingStop Ads, Anticipation Grows
The idea of a full-length album from the two has been circulating since 2023, when Metro shared an image of them working in the studio, with a caption hinting at their future music: “Got a lot of new music coming but when me and @JIDsv drop [fire emoji] [spiral eye emoji].” JID later cleared up confusion surrounding a tweet that suggested they were only working on a single, confirming instead that the two were collaborating on an entire project.
Though no music has been released yet, the pair’s chemistry is apparent. JID expressed his appreciation in response to Metro’s tweet: “I love working with u brudda, it’s an honor.” Metro returned the sentiment: “Honor is mine family [handshake emoji].” Fans also got a preview of JID’s solo work through an unexpected channel—WingStop. In March, JID narrated a commercial for the fast-food chain’s new chicken tenders, with a beat from his upcoming album in the background. He thanked WingStop on Instagram: “Appreciate @wingstop for letting me curate this #ad with a track from my next project.”
In response to fans teasing him about using a commercial to promote his music, JID joked, “Mad at me for loving wings? The beat’s from the album, THe ALBum lol. Y’all acting stiff.” He added humorously, “Who else is leaking beats through a WingStop ad? We’re playing a whole different game.” With both his collaboration with Metro Boomin and his solo album on the way, JID seems to be letting his music unfold on its own time—whether on festival stages or in fast-food ads. Given the growing excitement, his projects appear to be nearing their release.
