Big Sean is clearing the air after rumors about his abs went viral. On July 7, fitness influencer Blake Sanburg, who goes by @thenutritionnarc, uploaded a video suggesting the rapper may have gone under the knife or used performance enhancers to sculpt his midsection. In his analysis, Sanburg pointed to how defined Sean’s abs look and compared them to older images, claiming there was a noticeable change over the years. He floated the idea of ab etching or steroid use but also credited Sean’s “interesting genetics” for his physique.
As the video gained traction, Big Sean jumped into the conversation himself. He clapped back directly in the comments, insisting his abs are all-natural. “Bro, unfortunately mine are real lol,” he wrote. While brushing off the claims, he added that everyone’s body is different and even joked that when he’s not in shape, he looks like a “chewed up tootsie roll.” He said he normally wouldn’t say anything, but the accusations had gotten out of hand.
Sanburg followed up by revealing Sean had also reached out to him privately. In a message shared by the influencer, Sean explained, “I just gained Dad weight n had to crack down on working out as I got older bro. So my body has gone thru a lot lol. No surgery though.”
Big Sean has consistently spoken about his dedication to fitness, and it’s something he’s leaned into especially after becoming a father. In a recent interview on the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast, he also opened up about dealing with personal loss, encouraging others to process grief without letting it consume them. Despite the internet noise, Sean made it clear his body transformation came from discipline, not a doctor’s office.
