During a recent stop on The Joe Budden Podcast, Pusha T and No Malice opened up about how close fans were to getting not one, but two Kendrick Lamar features on the Clipse’s new album, Let God Sort Em Out. While Kendrick appears on the fiery track “Chains & Whips,” the duo revealed there was almost another collaboration in the works.

The conversation came up when co-host Ice asked about Pusha’s past mentions of working with Kendrick. Pusha explained that he sent two songs—“Chains & Whips” and “So Be It”—to Kendrick, and the Compton rapper was interested in contributing to both. “He wanted to be on both,” Pusha confirmed. Kendrick quickly returned a verse for “Chains & Whips,” but the second feature never came to life, and it’s unclear if the verse for “So Be It” was ever completed.

No Malice praised Kendrick’s ability to deliver under pressure, considering everything he had on his plate at the time, including the ongoing tension with Drake and his other creative endeavors. “Yo, but I think it’s a testament to his skill,” he said. “Because, in the middle of everything he was going through, [he] delivered not just a verse, but a verse like that. Top to bottom. Like, he went in.”

Kendrick’s verse on “Chains & Whips” instantly sparked discussion online. While not everyone agreed on its impact, it undeniably added weight to an already hard-hitting track. The record, positioned early in the album’s tracklist, set the tone for a project full of raw energy, layered lyricism, and pointed messages.

Though the second Kendrick verse may never surface, fans are already dissecting what Let God Sort Em Out offers—highlighting Clipse’s lyrical sharpness and the powerful moments that did make the final cut.
